Air China Donates NT$ 10 million to Help Typhoon Disaster Victims in TaiwanHome > About Us > Air China News > Air China Donates NT$ 10 million to Help Typhoon Disaster Victims in Taiwan On August 13, 2009, Air China announced it would donate NT$ 10 million to the Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) to help the victims of Typhoon Morak in Taiwan, and to support in the transportation of personnel and materials. Typhoon Morak resulted in a devastating 50-year flood in the Southern Taiwan area, which has caused more than 100 deaths and 700 people are still missing. Agriculture and fisheries in Southern Taiwan have suffered heavy losses. As a result of widespread livestock deaths, hot weather, and failure of water supply and power, basic sanitation for the affected Taiwanese people has been difficult. This has been compounded by a lack of medicine and drinking water purification facilities. As one of the first mainland civil aviation enterprises allowed to operate in Taiwan, Air China is greatly concerned about the welfare of the Taiwanese people and understands the importance of contributing at this difficult time. Besides the donation of NT$ 10 million to ARATS, Air China plans to continue its care and support for the citizens of Taiwan that have been affected by the flood. As the leader of China’s civil aviation industry in flight safety, quality services, and profits, Air China is an enterprise with a strong sense of social responsibility, and attaches great importance to the contribution of public welfare. With activities such as sponsoring the Beijing Olympic Games, contributing to Wenchuan earthquake relief work, supporting Project Hope, and rescuing overseas compatriots, Air China continues to prove itself as an outstanding and dedicated enterprise.
