"Rooted in Taiwan to Connect both Sides of the Strait” –
Air China Continues to Care for Disadvantaged Children on Both Sides of the Strait
Nearly 200 protectory children in Taoyuan happily met two pandas
Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan at Taipei Zoo
Although the pandas have stayed in Taiwan for more than a year, Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan are still the most popular animal stars in Taipei Zoo! To implement the corporate spirit "Rooted in Taiwan to Connect both Sides of the Strait” as well as the public welfare concept of caring for disadvantaged children on both sides of the Strait, following last year's sponsorship of disadvantaged children in Chiayi to visit Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan, Air China Limited Taiwan Branch once again provided support this year for protectory children in Taoyuan to go to Taipei Zoo to meet the two star attractions. Additionally, the Sichuan delegation visiting Taiwan brought a variety of panda souvenirs for the children from the provincial tourism bureau, thus continuing to spread warmth and love across the Strait and in Taiwan.
Through years of long-term sponsorship to the "Sichuan Panda Festival", Air China has paid great attention to panda conservation. Since it set up an office in Taiwan last March and subsequently establishing a branch there, Air China has not only sponsored disadvantaged children in Chiayi to take the high-speed railway to visit Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan, but also provided full funding for poverty-stricken high school students in Chiayi to fly to Sichuan’s Emei Mountain and Ya'an Panda Base to personally experience and understand panda ecology and conservation. Last week, Air China Limited Taiwan Branch provided free air tickets for disadvantaged students in Taiwan to visit Shanghai World Expo. Together with the activity “Air China Caring for You, Me and All” among the enterprises on the two sides, Air China has won consistent praise and commendation in all circles in Taiwan for its continued commitment to public benefit activities for young children.
Air China Taiwan Branch General Manager highlighted that there is considerable room for growth in sightseeing and cultural exchanges between Sichuan and Taiwan. Thanks to the cute image of pandas in the eyes of the Taiwanese people, combined with Air China’s continued efforts to be "Rooted in Taiwan to Connect both Sides of the Strait”, the traffic volume between Taiwan and Sichuan is expected to increase rapidly in the second half. In order to meet the needs of sightseeing tourist crowds during the summer vacation, Air China plans to increase the current three direct flights per week between the two provinces to four or five, to facilitate more passengers to travel between Taiwan and Sichuan.
