Better City, Better Life; Better Care, Warm CityHome > About Us > Air China News > Better City, Better Life; Better Care, Warm City ![]() One Hundred Excellent Students from Taiwan Visit World ExpoAir China partnered with Farglory Group and Aurora Group from Taiwan in sponsorship of the “Care for Our Children to Share World Expo” program. This event was initiated by Mr. Wu Yongjian, the original designer of Haibao, the mascot of World Expo 2010, in order to offer underprivileged students from Taiwan the chance to experience the Expo for themselves. In the “Care for Our Children to Share World Expo” program, a hundred students aged between 10 and 20 from underprivileged families in Taiwan, including children from single-parent families, disabled and economically disadvantaged children, were invited to visit World Expo 2010 from May 8-11. The aim of this event was to allow these children to understand the diverse cultures of Mainland China and the world through visiting World Expo 2010, so they could understand the mutual-benefit of harmonious coexistence between city and humanity. ![]() As the original designer of the mascot for World Expo 2010, Mr. Wu Yongjian, General Manager of Shanghai Yongjian Corporate Image Design Co., Ltd., initiated the program. Since Haibao was selected as the mascot of the World Expo 2010, Mr. Wu hoped that he could bring single-parent students from Taiwan to the World Expo to enable these underprivileged children to enjoy equal opportunities of building dreams and expectations for future cities, so they could jointly create a more beautiful home and a better life in the future. Air China not only sponsored the round-trip tickets for these students, but also actively liaised with the China Disabled Persons’ Federation to help them witness the Life & Sunshine Pavilion in World Expo 2010. Located in the Urbanian Pavilion, the 800 square meter Life & Sunshine Pavilion highlights the humanity of the World Expo as a comprehensive pavilion specially built for the disabled to display their dignity and value. In addition, it advocates humanism and promotes the development of social welfare for the disabled population. The Life & Sunshine Pavilion is the first pavilion especially designed for disadvantaged people during the World Expo's 159-year history. The children from Taiwan will visit the pavilion and enjoy the concept of “care for life, share the sunshine”. We hope and believe that while witnessing the history and experiencing "better city, better life”, they will spread the loving care they received and share their pleasure with others through their own creations in the future.
